How it works

Tangerine BooksNZ are currently not accepting manuscript submissions, but we encourage you to keep an eye on this website for future announcements.

With our unique partnership publishing model, once your manuscript has been submitted and accepted, we will invite you to contribute a koha of five copies of your book, the sale of which will go towards the collective's expenses (e.g. advertising, awards, etc.) In return we will support you through the process to the printing stage, and beyond.  A high-quality, well-edited, professionally presented manuscript and enticing cover design are crucial to success. We will help you with this. When you are ready to publish, and we believe the book is to Tangerine BooksNZ's high standard:

We will

  1. ensure your design files are in the proper format
  2. recommend a reputable book printer
  3. guide you in the selection of the book's metadata, such as title, description, keywords and categories
  4. advertise your book on Tangerine BooksNZ's website
  5. add your name to our list of published authors
  6. register your book with Neilsens Title Editor under Tangerine BooksNZ imprint
  7. provide you with:

  • an image file of the imprint to put on the spine of your book
  • an image of our brand 'Tangerine BooksNZ' to put inside your book
  • our NZ ISBN registration number to go on the copyright page
  • the NZ ISBN barcode for the back cover
  • an appropriate BISAC code
  • a 'Tips on Marketing your Book' information sheet

It will be your responsibility to

  1. print a minimum of 50 hard copies
  2. set a recommended retail price (RRP) for your book
  3. instigate a book launch and/or presentation tour
  4. donate and courier/deliver 5 copies of your book to Tangerine BooksNZ
